Dead Laptop

My laptop has died so I haven't been able to upload all of the cool stuff that's been happening. Worst thing is that all of our diving photos from the reef are on there! So I'm hoping that my hard drive isn't gone so that I get all my photos and stuff back...

Our Place

Mumsy requested a few pics of our place up here. Didn't have a tidy up or anything but you'll get the idea.

The duplex, we're on the right:

I drove the school troopy home so it's in the driveway:

Afternoon Sessions

Nothing better than kickin' back on the beach on a Monday afternoon doing a bit of Salmon fishing. Didn't catch anything but it was awesome just relaxing...

Random Stuff

Finally got my new camera up and running so I thought I'd share the first few photos I've taken with it this week...

The Reef!!!

Getting up at 5:00am Yesterday was probably not the best start to a Sunday morning, but at the end of the day I was so happy I got up. At 5:30 Stu and I rocked up at the Police Station and we loaded up the Police Boat and got ready to head out to the Great Barrier Reef. After we put the boat in the water, it was about an hour trip out to the first reef we stopped at. I geared up with my snorkelling gear and jumped into the water. As I looked down, I couldn't believe it! There were millions of the coolest looking fish I had only ever dreamed of seeing. There were huge corals everywhere too! It was amazing! After about 5 minutes, Dave the Policeman had already speared 3 massive crays! They were unbelievable! As I was swimming back towards the boat a White Tip Reef Shark cruised past me. I was loving it!

We then headed out to the next reef and just after I got in, I saw an anenome that was about 2 metres by 2 metres. It was massive! As I got closer, I reckon there would've been about 50 Clown Fish inside it. I was blown away, it was awesome! Just after that Dave and I spotted a white stingray cruising towards us. I'd never seen a white stingray and he was about 2 metres in diameter. He was huge!

After that we stopped at a couple of other reefs. The highlight being a 2 metre+ White Tip Reef Shark cruising towards me, stopping and looking at me then veering past me. I was stressing! Other than that, we saw a huge pod of dolphins, plenty of turtles and the most amazing fish and corals I'd ever seen. We also came home with 4 massive crays and about 8 Coral Trout.

Having a reef like this so close to us has made me want a boat asap! So I'm currently on the lookout! Today Amanda got home from Cairns with my underwater camera housing, so I'm that pumped to get out there again and take photos of everything I saw out there!

Here are a couple of photos of our dinner that night:

It's been a while...

So we finally have internet and phone service back up and running. After the cyclone warnings Telstra went down in a big way. We had no internet or phone service for about 5 days. During this time Amanda lost her camera so I don't even have any photos of what has been happening. It worked out that the camera somehow turned up in the school office 3 weeks later. Weird. Anyway not much news, school's goin well. Amanda's in Cairns for PD for 10 days so I'm up here living it up. Plenty of fishing and riding. I have a new underwater camera so I can wait to take it out and get some sweet shots. Looking forward to our diving trip in Cairns in 4 weeks!!!
