Australia Day Weekend

Well this weekend has been massive! Kicked off on Saturday with a fishing sesh with the boys. We launched from the Claudie River which is full of crocs so the boat launch was interesting. Didn't help that the boys were tellin' me about what not to do and when the crocs will get you. I was stressing! Once we got going it was sweet. We headed out into the ocean and made our way to the Lockhart River. The river systems up here are nuts, there are creeks and rivers connecting everywhere. After a couple of hours only four fish had been caught, none of them on my rod! The boys reckon that it is usually way better and we should try going out earlier next time, so I'm still hanging out to catch my first fish up here!

Sunday was a day organising things at school so that I'd be set up and ready for the first day with the kids. Still not how I'd want my room but it's getting there. The same goes for our place. We are continually getting thngs sorted but still not quite there. Hopefully by next weekend we'll have our place how we want it and I can get some photos posted.

Today for Australia day we went out to the Ranger's Station for a barbie and drinks (alcohol!). Because the station is outside the AMP zone (no alcohol zone), we were alllowed to drink. The guys had orgainsed to pick up the alcohol from the barge outside the AMP zone and take it straight to the Ranger's Station, as we aren't allowed to bring it into the Lockhart community. So once we got out to the Ranger's Station we meet a few people we hadn't already, such as the new arts centre operators, the rangers, etc. After that we took a few drinks with us and headed out for a big game of cricket. Everyone was right into it and we all had heaps of fun. Other than that we had a good feed, listened to the J's Hottest 100 and talked it up.

The fun starts tomorrow...

Hey Justin. We are loving reading what you are up to. Hope you catch some fish but no crocs. Sounds like you will have some great adventures and we are looking forward to reading them here. Lil
